The majority of our 30 staff are trained to level 3 (BTEC, NNEB, NVQ) several staff have achieved level 4 and 4 staff hold a level 5, with 2 more in the process of training to level 5. In addition the nursery has an Early Years Teacher. All of our staff are highly experienced and selected for their enthusiasm, dedication and love of children. We believe in ongoing training to maintain and enhance our staff development. By attending regular training sessions both internally and externally our staff are kept abreast of new developments within childcare, best practice and legislation.
Over 75% of our staff have a first aid certificate (paediatric), and there are always several qualified first aiders present.
In addition to our staffs main qualification between them they have also achieved qualifications in many other supporting areas:

Our record for retaining staff is excellent, and many have been with us since the first nursery opened in 1997. This excellent level of staff retention is mainly attributed to the friendly working environment at Poppetts. We encourage all staff to be involved and influence working practice in the Nursery which is reflected in the long service of the majority of our team. We have a good mix of young and mature staff who work well together as a team.
Our manager is not included in our staff ratios, along with our cooks and domestic support.
We have a fully trained Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator-SENDCo. This member of staff is on hand to ensure that any developmental issues are picked up and liaises with outside agencies and other professionals to ensure that help and support is accessed where necessary.
